About The Center |

FOUNDATION The Michigan Adult Learning & Technology Center (formerly the State Literacy Resource Center) opened in 1992. In October 1998 the center adopted the new name which more accurately describes its mission. The center was initially funded under the National Literacy Act. This act, authorized by the U.S. Department of Education, provides major funding for state literacy centers. The center receives additional support from the Michigan Department of Education. |

RESOURCES The Michigan Adult Learning & Technology Center is a professional development center that extends support, services and resources to adult education providers, volunteers, and students. These efforts include: disseminating research information; conducting and sponsoring training for tutors and educators; coordinating conferences; aiding in the utilization of technology in professional development and the classroom; providing grants or sponsoring research projects related to the field of education. |

TECHNOLOGY The Michigan Adult Learning & Technology Center is committed to the use of technology in adult education. A large part of this commitment involves providing training and material resources for educators, tutors, and students. The center also aids programs in locating funds for the development and implementation of technology in education. In addition, the center's web site has been designed as a resource for those interested in locating more information on adult learning or technology. |
